The Israeli military has launched three airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, targeting the northern, southern, and eastern parts of the besieged Palestinian territory.
Palestinian officials say three explosions were heard in the territory. Rescue teams and ambulances have rushed to the areas. At least 8 Palestinians have been injured in southern Gaza town of Rafah. Two Palestinians have also been injured in the north. Tel Aviv claims the air strikes were carried out in response to a rocket fired from Gaza. The Israeli military often targets Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which remains cut off from the outside world by a crippling blockade.

The Syrian foreign minister says the Geneva two conference had no tangible results because of the foreign-backed opposition\'s quote immaturity. Walid al-Muallem also accused the United States of interfering in the meetings.
Speaking on the last day of the talks on Syria, Muallem said the government delegation had agreed to discuss everything but the opposition refused to address the issue of terrorism and threatened to derail the talks. Earlier in the day, Syrian information minister Omran al-Zoubi said the opposition delegation will not win concessions from Damascus in any future talks. Meanwhile, Loay Safi a member of the so-called Syrian National Coalition says Damascus was forced to attend the talks because of the actions of the insurgents who are QUOTE the true voice of the Syrians.

The United Nations has censured Israel for demolishing more Palestinian homes.
The UN humanitarian coordinator for the Palestinian territories criticized Israel\'s demolition of three dozen homes in the occupied Jordan Valley. James Rawley urged Tel Aviv to halt its violations of international law in the occupied West Bank. The demolitions in the community of Ain el-Helwe on Thursday displaced over sixty people, including 36 children. The UN humanitarian coordinator\'s office said that Israeli demolitions in the occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem al-Quds displaced 1,000 Palestinians in 2013 alone.

The US administration is stepping up criticism of the Syrian government over the removal of its chemical weapons. Secretary of State John Kerry says all options are still on the table and that Syria could face consequences for failing to get rid of its stockpile of chemical weapons.
Over the past two days, the US administration has repeatedly accused Damascus of deliberately stalling the international disarmament deal to remove its chemical weapons. But Russia has rejected Washington\'s charges that the Syrian government is dragging its feet in the effort to eliminate its chemical weapons stockpile. Moscow says a June 30 deadline to destroy Syria\'s arsenal of toxic agents remains viable, despite delays. The Kremlin says the delays are due to security problems on the road to the port of Latakia and insufficient technical support from the outside world.

The Pentagon chief has warned Afghanistan against what he termed as foot-dragging on the Bilateral Security Agreement with the US.
Chuck Hagel says the Afghan president\'s deferring risks leaving Washington no time to plan its post-combat mission there. The US defense secretary admitted however that Hamid Karzai was the elected president of a sovereign nation, and Washington\'s ability to influence the decisions he makes, is limited. US-led forces are due to withdraw from Afghanistan by December 2014. But the security agreement under negotiation would allow for a contingent of American troops to remain on the ground. Washington wants its soldiers to enjoy immunity from Afghan law under the deal. However, Karzai has adamantly refused that condition, saying his successor should make the final decision after the presidential election on April 5.

In the US, a camera crew from an Atlanta television station has filmed an incident that shows why Icy roads require their own kind of driving skills!
The footage shows a vehicle sliding down a hill before hitting the side of the road. Moments later a passer-by in hi-visibility jacket comes to help the driver but only before another car spins out of control and slams into the stationary car. But that\'s not all. After bystanders call an ambulance for the drivers, a third car skids across the same part of the icy road and comes to an abrupt stop near the first two. The incident follows a snow storm that had nearly shut down Atlanta on Wednesday.

Anti-regime demonstrations rage on in Bahrain, despite the heavy-handed crackdown on protesters.
In the latest round of protests, regime forces used tear gas to disperse protesters in Abu Saiba, west of the capital Manama. Earlier on Friday, a mass rally was held to condemn a controversial ruling by a Bahraini court which disbanded a Shia Muslim clerical body. The verdict against the Islamic Scholars Council came in a lawsuit filed by Bahrain\'s Justice Ministry accusing the organization of promoting sectarianism. The move has been criticized by the opposition and human rights groups, who say it is part of the regime\'s efforts to silence the voice of dissent. Since 2011, anti-regime demonstrations have been held almost every day in Bahrain, in defiance of the deadly crackdown.

The first round of the Geneva-2 conference has ended: U.N.-Arab League mediator Lakhdar Brahimi tried to put a positive spin on the summit: And what does he have to show for it? Not even a 100% commitment from Syrian delegation to attend the 2nd round on Feb 10. Yet, both sides agreed on one topic wholeheartedly, and without reservation: a minute of silence for the dead from both sides.
In this edition of the debate , we\'ll discuss how Geneva 2 failed to live up to any expectations, Iran\'s absence, and how far this conflict is from being over, which by some estimates, could be prolonged for a year, or even longer.
