Zeina Zaatari starts with sharing some quotes from her interviews in Lebanon in 2001. She then presents a history of Lebanese-Israeli relationship. Argues that Hezbollah - although supported by Iran-Syria - is very much a Lebanese phenomenon. Talks about Syed Musa Sadrs involvement - formation of Amal - Syed Fadlallahs role in educational activities and his perceived connections to Hezbollah - and finally she comes to the formation of Hezbollah. Her description of Vilayate Faqih may not be fully accurate but that shouldnt distract one from the main theme of her talk. She describes Hezbollahs organizational capacity social welfare projects outreach avenues - all of which were targets of Israels bombardment in Summer 2006. She also describes the dynamics of Hezbollahs influence among its following. Although she warns against seeing these dynamics in instrumental terms - she still focuses on clientalism and does not give sufficient value to identity attachments and religious commitments of the followers among the Shias and support from well-wishers among the general Lebanese population and beyond Lebanon. Nasrallah slams anti-Iran remarks by Hariri - 9Apr11 - English

Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has underlined Hezbollah\\\'s stance towards the latest developments in Lebanon through a televised speech.
Remarks of caretaker premier Saad Hariri in which he accused Iran of interfering in the affairs of Arab states and inciting problems were considered by Nasrallah as a reflection of Israeli rhetoric.
Sayyed Nasrallah linked the latest position of Saad Hariri to the unrest in the region, especially after Hariri held a telephone conversation with Bahraini king Hamad Bin Khalifa:
The anti Iranian remarks follow a campaign by the March 14 against hezbollah\\\'s arms , but this stance is not new, and nasrallah said it goes back some years and is part of a deal between the US and the embattled March 14th .
Analysts see the war of words in Lebanon as a reflection of rivalry between the camp allied with the US and the resistance:
The issue of the formation of a new cabinet headed by PM designate Najib Mikati was also tackled by Nasrallah who said the march 8th are determined to deal with the remaining obstacles before forming the Mikati cabinet.

In July 2006, the Arab-Israeli struggle was taken to a new level with a 33-day Israeli attack on Lebanon.

[24 July 2012] US Israel seek to launch more wars in Mideast - English
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Tel Aviv will "have to act" to prevent a possible transfer of chemical weapons from Syria to Lebanon.
In an interview on "Fox News Sunday," Netanyahu said the need for an intervention may arise in case of the collapse of the Syrian government.
"So I think that this is something we'll have to act to stop if the need arises. And the need might arise if there's a regime collapse," the Israeli premier said.
He made the comments a few days after Israeli Minister of Military Affairs Ehud Barak made similar remarks.
Barak said that "the moment (Syrian President Bashar al-Assad) starts to fall we will conduct intelligence monitoring and will liaise with other agencies."
"Israel cannot accept a situation where advanced weapons systems are transferred from Syria to Lebanon," he said.
This is while Israel has intensified its military buildup in the occupied Golan Heights near the Syrian border.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Dr. Randy Short, with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, from Washington, to further discuss the issue.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a speech during the 23rd Annual University Graduation Ceremony for Hezbollah\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Taabia\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'a Tarbawiya\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" (Educational Youth Association). His eminence first spoke of the importance of education and ethics and he congratulated all those who took part in this joint effort. The secretary General also addressed some of the challenges that the education system faces in Lebanon, and he discussed potential solutions to these issues.
Sayed Nasrallah also spoke directly to the March 14 coalition, and said that their calculations which are based on the alleged downfall of the Syrian regime are not valid. He also pointed out the irony in the fact that the March 14 coalition supposedly showed support to Gaza during their recent visit, and yet they feel the need to contest the Resistance\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s arms in Lebanon.
His eminence also briefly spoke about Syria, emphasizing that the situation is getting bloodier. He spoke to those who question Hezbollah\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s stance on Syria: \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"I ask all of you today, what is your stance on the armed rebel groups in Syria killing innocent Syrian citizens?!\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" To conclude his speech, Sayed Nasrallah spoke about Palestine and the importance of the last victory of the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza.

Hezbollah\'s Deputy Chief, Sheikh Na\'eem Qassem, has accused the U.S.-backed Future Bloc of providing political support for perpetrators behind the unrest in Lebanon\'s Southern city of Sidon last week.
The skirmishes provoked by hard-line militants loyal to controversial Salafist cleric - Ahmad Al-Asir - last Monday, led to the death of several Lebanese soldiers and the injury of scores others.
The premature attempt to ignite a sectarian strife by salafists and their cleric Ahmad Al-Asir in Lebanon is believed to have been the result of the Syrian government\'s gaining ground on the battlefield against militants.

Twin explosions near the Iranian embassy in Lebanon\\\'s capital Beirut has claimed over a dozen lives, killing Iran\\\'s cultural attaché to Lebanon. This is the first occurrence of an embassy being targeted by terrorists, in what is believed to be a spillover from the war in neighboring Syria. In this debate, we\\\'ll discuss who would benefit from this, in which even though an Al Qaeda offshoot has claimed responsibility, many are pointing the finger to Israel and Saudi Arabia.

The army says two Katyusha-style rockets launched from Lebanon landed near the town of Kiryat Shmona. In response, the Israeli artillery fired a barrage of shells into the Lebanese border region of Arqub. Uninhabited areas were targeted in both attacks, causing no injuries or damage. Israel\\\'s minister of military affairs has warned of even tougher retaliation if the attacks persist. Moshe Yaalon has held the Lebanese government responsible for the latest rocket attack. The area has remained mostly quiet since a month-long war in 2006 between Israel and the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah. But there\\\'s been sporadic rocket firing from Lebanon-- carried out by al-Qaeda-affiliated groups including the Abdullah Azzam Brigades.

Besides, how were the relations between Iran and Syria?
How did Syria aid Iran during the 8-year imposed war?
