Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad slammed an anti-Islam film that has provoked a violent reaction in the Muslim world.
\\\"Fundamentally, first of all, any action that is provocative, offends the religious thoughts and feelings of any people, we condemn,\\\"
\\\"Likewise, we condemn any type of extremism. Of course, what took place was ugly. Offending the Holy Prophet is quite ugly. This has very little or nothing to do with freedom and freedom of speech. This is the weakness of and the abuse of freedom, and in many places it is a crime. It shouldn\\\'t take place, and I do hope the day will come in which politicians will not seek to offend those whom others hold holy,\\\"
\\\"We also believe that this must also be resolved in a humane atmosphere, in a participatory environment, and we do not like anyone losing their lives or being killed for any reason, anywhere in the world.\\\"

The body count keeps rising: More than 500 people have been killed in May. And April: the deadliest month since June 2008, the death toll at more than 700.
The extent of the violence is increasingly reminiscent of the widespread sectarian fighting that peaked in 2006 and 2007 and threatened to tear the country apart. But what is fanning the flames of this sectarianism in Iraq?
In this edition of The Debate we are going to examine the roles of regional countries, like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar, and ask guests about US role, and what plans PM Nuri al Maliki has to tackle this problem.

Lebanon\\\'s resistance movement Hezbollah has killed at least 20 anti-Syria militants from the so-called Free Syrian Army near the border with Lebanon. Reports say the number of casualties following the Sunday clash is likely to increase after the bodies are retrieved. Earlier in the day, at least two rockets launched from Syria hit the northeastern Lebanese town of Hermel in Bekaa Valley.
Foreign-backed militants in Syria have previously been involved in rocket attacks on Lebanese border areas. Turmoil has gripped Syria since March 2011 and the foreign-sponsored militancy has taken its toll on the lives of many people, including large numbers of Syrian soldiers and security personnel. On this edition of the debate, we ask why some are saying the Syrian conflict is becoming an Israeli proxy war against the resistance front.

The Supreme Court has come into action to expose the role of top officials of previous government of People Party for seeking the US military intervention and denuclearization of Pakistan, a nuclear state. The Court has ordered the newly elected government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to bring back from the US the fugitive Hussain Haqqani, the country\'s ex ambassador to Washington. Haqqani has been refusing to return home citing security concerns since last year when a Judicial Commission found him seeking the US military intervention in Pakistan after US marines carried out an operation to kill top Alqaeda leader Osama Bin Laden in northwest of country in 2011. Haqqani allegedly in league with President Asif Zardari was behind authorizing a memorandum seeking Pentagon\'s help to sack top Pakistani military officials. In return President Zardari would have allowed the direct US military operations to hunt down militants in the country.

Both Egypt\'s armed forces and al-Azhar, the highest Islamic authority in the country, have issued statements strongly warning against violence in the upcoming protests. General Abdul Fatah El Sissi, the Minister of Defense said that the moral responsibility of the armed forces is towards the people and thus it will intervene to prevent the country from slipping into violence that could lead to the disintegration of the state. On another front, al-Azhar scholars asserted to Press TV that the Islamic institution is not against any peaceful means of voicing concerns about the future of the country. The statements of the army come after increasing concerns as June 30th draws in the possibility of clashes between pro and anti Morsi protestors.

It includes the expropriation of 80000 hectares of Arab land in the Negev Desert and grants the Israeli Authorities strict enforcement mechanisms, such as implementing forced evictions and home demolitions without judicial outcomes. Any complaints will be left to the authority of the Israeli Prime-minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who gave full support to the bill as part of his policy to expand Israeli settlements in the area.

Hezbollah\'s Deputy Chief, Sheikh Na\'eem Qassem, has accused the U.S.-backed Future Bloc of providing political support for perpetrators behind the unrest in Lebanon\'s Southern city of Sidon last week.
The skirmishes provoked by hard-line militants loyal to controversial Salafist cleric - Ahmad Al-Asir - last Monday, led to the death of several Lebanese soldiers and the injury of scores others.
The premature attempt to ignite a sectarian strife by salafists and their cleric Ahmad Al-Asir in Lebanon is believed to have been the result of the Syrian government\'s gaining ground on the battlefield against militants.

Thus for 30 days, the lifestyles of Muslims around the world change dramatically. But although its core purpose is spiritually based, there are many health and medical benefits and implications of fasting including giving rest to the digestive system, decrease of cholesterol level in blood, and moderate weight loss.
This week\'s Islam and Life asks: What are the benefits of fasting?

In Egypt, since the military coup a couple weeks ago, more than 1,000 supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi have been detained.
The Muslim Brotherhood says the military is driving them out of politics. However, both supporters and opponents of Morsi reject outside interference in their country and its internal affairs.
Oddly enough, it took outside interference for a possible break though: The Muslim Brotherhood said it had proposed through an EU go-between a framework for talks to resolve Egypt\'s political crisis.
In this edition of the show we will discuss the chances of a political compromise between the Muslim Brotherhood and the army.
