The Israeli spy agency Mossad may have used intelligence provided by an Arab country to carry out assassinations in the region. Israeli sources confirmed on Monday that Mossad chief Meir Dagan's reliance on cooperation with an Arab country was the reason behind the successful completion of Israeli operations in various countries, IRNA reported. The Arab country does not have diplomatic relations with Israel, the sources added. Iran hails world financial crisis as 'end of capitalism' Oct 15, 2008 TEHRAN (AFP) — Iranian leaders say the world financial crisis indicates the end of capitalism, the failure of liberal democracy and divine punishment -- marking the superiority of the Islamic republic's political model. "The school of Marxism has collapsed and the sound of the West's cracking liberal democracy is now being heard," supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday, recalling the fate of the Soviet Union. Hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is backed by Khamenei, said on Tuesday that "it is the end of capitalism." Such convictions can be traced back to the ideals of the 1979 Islamic revolution, which Ahmadinejad has sought to revive since he rose to power in 2005. The firebrand president, who has not missed a chance to denounce Western "decadence" since his election, has exploited the scale of the global crisis to play up his argument. He benefits from the luxury that the Tehran stock market has been unaffected by the losses that bourses in neighbouring Gulf states have suffered. That stability is attributable to the absence of foreign investors and to the government's firm grip on economic activity. Several Iranian newspapers, regardless of their reformist or conservative leanings, have also blamed the global economic crisis on excessive liberalism. And some officials, such as the head of Iran's electoral watchdog body, have come up with less conventional theories and branded the turmoil as "divine punishment." "These people see the outcome of their bad deeds. This problem has spread to Europe now which makes us happy. A Hamas senior official has lashed out at Saudi Arabia for not granting visas to Gazans who want to go on the Hajj pilgrimage. In remarks posted on Hummaas's website, Atef Edwan said Riyadh had allowed thousands of people registered with the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank to have visas but not the 2,200 in Gaza who applied through Hummaas, AFP reported. "By ignoring those Gaza pilgrims registered with the Waqf (department of religious affairs) Saudi Arabia is making a political mistake that will have negative consequences on the Saudi regime and the whole region," AFP quoted Edwan as saying. Meanwhile media outlets quoted unnamed witnesses as saying that Hummaas police set up checkpoints across Gaza on Saturday, to prevent those who coordinated their pilgrimage with the movement's rival, the Palestinian Authority from traveling. Presstv - English Documentary on Arrival of Imam Khomeini Dr. James B Thring, Secretary of London-based NGO, Ministry of Peace, who has come to Iran to take part in anniversary of Imam Khomeini\'s departure, said Imam Khomeini aroused admiration of those seeking justice for Palestine when he spoke against dependence of Shah\'s regime on foreign powers supporting Israel. He said that Imam Khomeini is admired for presenting revolutionary objectives through diplomatic, humanitarian and noble messages. \"He set a fine example to the rest of the world of how to improve people\'s welfare with minimum disruption.\" The British peace activist told IRNA reporter that the US and Israeli demands for criminal immunity worldwide are another affront to the global community. \"Their crimes against humanity and war crimes in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq and many other parts of the world are the worst of modern times.\" He said that Imam Khomeini deserves even greater admiration than accorded to him outside Iran, because his perceptive criticism of Israel and the Zionist lobby were not broadcast widely. \"He foresaw the destruction of not only Palestine, but the Arab states generally, well before the devastation of Iraq.\" Dr. Thring said that he is lobbying to mull legal action by the United Nations against the Israeli and US leaders for the crimes against humanity they perpetrated in Palestine and Iraq. Abdullah al-Hassan made the remarks on the threshold of the 20th anniversary of the demise of Imam Khomeini. He contended that the thoughts of that politico-religious leader were based on Islamic unity. The ideas prompted the Ummah to withstand US and Israeli plots to divide the Ummah into conflicting groups, he said. He always supported the oppressed people in the world and encouraged them to confront arrogant powers, the Syrian thinker said. Imam Khomeini initiated Qods Day to bring the Muslims together on the Palestine issue, he concluded.

George Galloway (born 16 August 1954) is an outspoken British politician, author, and broadcaster, who has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 1987 and is known for his anti-war,[1] socialist, and anti-Zionist views. He was a Labour Party MP for Glasgow Hillhead, and for Glasgow Kelvin, before his expulsion from the party in October 2003,[2] and his subsequently becoming a founding member of Respect. He currently represents the Bethnal Green and Bow constituency, having been most recently elected to that seat in 2005. Galloway is perhaps best known for his vigorous campaign to both overturn economic sanctions against Iraq in the 1990s and early 2000s, and to avert the 2003 invasion of that country, as well as for his speech before the then President of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, in which he appeared to praise the Iraqi dictator,[3] although Galloway actively opposed the regime until the United States-led Gulf War in 1991 and has always stated that he was addressing the Iraqi people.[4][5] Galloway has also expressed his support for the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,[6] and broadcasts regularly on the Iranian government-funded news channel Press TV.
