Insurgents in Syria have expressed doubt about the implementation of a new deal reached at the Geneva peace conference, under which the government has agreed to let women and children leave besieged districts of the city of Homs.
Insurgents operating in the city have called for a complete end to the siege of the areas, which have been under a blockade since June 20-12. They also say they want guarantees from the UN or the International Committee of the Red Cross that the people leaving the areas will not be arrested by Syrian forces. Earlier, UN and Arab League special envoy on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi said Damascus has agreed to let women and children leave the areas. The agreement was reached on the third day of the peace talks between the Syrian government and the foreign-backed opposition in Geneva.

Egyptians have held a mass funeral for victims of the violence that broke out on the third anniversary of Egypt\'s 2011 revolution.
The situation remains tense across the country, a day after deadly clashes pitting supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi against the security forces and rival demonstrators. The Health Ministry says nearly fifty people died in the clashes during demonstrations marking the anniversary of Egypt\'s 2011 revolution. Most of the victims are believed to be supporters of Morsi. Amnesty International has issued a report saying that Egypt has seen violence on an unprecedented scale since Morsi\'s ouster in a military coup in July. Meanwhile, Egypt\'s interim government announced on Sunday that it had decided to hold the presidential election before the parliamentary polls. The move is likely to intensify speculation over whether army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will be a candidate in the presidential election.

Discussing the latest techniques of minimally invasive surgery;
Tehran has hosted the 11th International Congress on Minimally Invasive Surgeries and Techniques and the first obesity surgery; Aside from Iranian specialists, surgeons from 14 countries have also taken part in the three-day event to exchange views on the latest techniques in this delicate type of surgery. Minimally invasive surgery is becoming more and more common in hospitals. These procedures are performed through tiny incisions instead of one large opening. Because the incisions are small, patients tend to have quicker recovery and less discomfort than with conventional surgery all with the same benefits. Obesity by itself is a big threat to modern societies, but this very danger can be removed through minimally invasive surgery. According to official reports obesity has nearly doubled worldwide since 1980. Overweight and obesity are the fifth leading risk for global deaths. Although there are modern methods to cure obesity like minimally invasive surgeries, doctors advise people to have healthy diet and do daily exercises in order to stay away from such non-communicable diseases.

Anti-regime demonstrations rage on in Bahrain, despite the heavy-handed crackdown on protesters.
In the latest round of protests, regime forces used tear gas to disperse protesters in Abu Saiba, west of the capital Manama. Earlier on Friday, a mass rally was held to condemn a controversial ruling by a Bahraini court which disbanded a Shia Muslim clerical body. The verdict against the Islamic Scholars Council came in a lawsuit filed by Bahrain\'s Justice Ministry accusing the organization of promoting sectarianism. The move has been criticized by the opposition and human rights groups, who say it is part of the regime\'s efforts to silence the voice of dissent. Since 2011, anti-regime demonstrations have been held almost every day in Bahrain, in defiance of the deadly crackdown.

In Bahrain, demonstrations have been held against the regime\'s violent crackdown and the killing of pro-democracy protesters.
In the predominantly Shia village of Bani Jamrah in the northwest, people protested peacefully over the murder of two protesters by the regime forces. Carrying pictures of the slain protesters, they formed a human pyramid at the end of the rally and waved the Bahraini flags. The village has been the scene of a brutal crackdown, with regime forces opening fire on unarmed protesters on many occasions. Earlier on Friday, the police fired tear gas and stun grenades at anti-regime protesters on the island of Sitra, south of the capital Manama. Since 2011, demonstrations against the al Khalifa regime have been held almost every day in Bahrain. Troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were called in to assist the Bahraini regime in its crackdown on protesters.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has voiced doubt about Washington\'s determination to reach an agreement on Iran\'s nuclear energy program. Iran\'s foreign minister said Washington\'s talk about new sanctions in recent months has caused a great deal of concern in Iran about whether the U-S is serious about wanting to reach an agreement. He said it is still possible to reach a deal on Iran\'s nuclear energy program because they have no other option and the only way to resolve the issue is through negotiations. Zarif made the remarks on the first day of talks in Vienna between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany on reaching a permanent agreement on Iran\'s nuclear program. Earlier, Zarif said that the deal is achievable but would take more than one or two sittings to reach.
