[05 Dec 2013] Homelessness rises by 13% in London, Southeast England - English
The number of homeless people in the UK continues to rise. Official figures show homelessness has increased 13 percent in London and the southeast of the country due to rising house prices. The figures also show that there are now 2,100 homeless families living in bed and breakfast. That\'s the highest number for a decade. Councils in England have confirmed over 57-thousand families as being homeless, placing them in temporary accommodation in September 2013. The figure is 8 percent higher than during the same period in 2012. More than two-thirds of the homeless households contain children or pregnant women.
