A United Nations human rights body has criticized the Tel Aviv regime for torturing Palestinian children, saying the Israeli military frequently uses them as human shields in its operations. The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child said on Thursday Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank and blockaded Gaza Strip are normally not allowed to have their birth registered, and are denied access to health care, decent schooling as well as safe drinking water. The UN report also stated that an estimated 7,000 Palestinian children aged 12 to 17, but some as young as nine, have been arrested, interrogated and detained over the past ten years. A highly controversial bill has been passed by a narrow margin in the Israeli Knesset which will lead to the second largest ethnic cleansing of Arab Bedouins since 1948. The bill, which was recommended in 2011, is called the Prawer Plan Law. It includes the expropriation of 80000 hectares of Arab land in the Negev Desert and grants the Israeli Authorities strict enforcement mechanisms, such as implementing forced evictions and home demolitions without judicial outcomes. Any complaints will be left to the authority of the Israeli Prime-minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who gave full support to the bill as part of his policy to expand Israeli settlements in the area.

Mohamed Morsi, was elected with a little over 51 % but with many Egyptians hoping that the change will bring positive developments in the country that was ruled with an iron grip for 30 years. Today, one year on, the support for Morsi is dwindling down with polls placing public approval ratings to his performance at 28%. Many Egyptians are dismayed over economic hardships in the form of surge in prices, high inflation as well as power cuts and gas shortages. Dozens of Israeli soldiers raided the village of Susiya in the South West of Al Khalil, Hebron while handing 39 stop work and demolition orders. A new report suggests Pakistani government officials have for years secretly endorsed the U-S drone campaign in their country. The report published by the Washington Post is based on leaked secret C-I-A documents and Pakistani diplomatic memos. It says Pakistani officials routinely obtained classified briefings despite their condemnations of the drone strikes. The files describe dozens of attacks in Pakistan\'s tribal region during 2007 and 2011. They include maps as well as aerial photographs of the targeted areas taken before-and-after the attacks. Former Pakistani premier Yousuf Raza Gilani has vehemently denied giving the U-S the approval. This comes as the current Pakistani prime minister urges the U-S president to end the attacks. Nawaz Sharif has warned that drone attacks could undermine ties between the two countries.

The Palestinian Authority has started a new campaign aimed at promoting international support for boycotting Israeli settlements. In a letter to fifty states including Persian Gulf countries, the PA urged them to clamp down on companies working with Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem al-Quds. Companies such as the French-owned Veolia and the British security company, G4S have been named in the letter. The Palestinian Authority also requested that those countries shut down all their operations in the settlements. Israeli settlements are illegal under international law, and the PA says providing services to them breaks the law. In recent months, a number of EU countries have also warned companies against entering the occupied Palestinian territories.

A new report by the Pakistani government has put the civilian death toll caused by US assassination drones at a surprisingly lower figure than previous estimates by government and independent organizations. Pakistan\'s Defense Ministry announced that only 3 percent of people killed by drones since 2008 were civilians. According to the ministry, the US has conducted about 320 drone strikes during that period, killing over 21 hundred militants and 67 civilians. The figure has sparked criticism from public opinion and groups that have been investigating the assassination drones. The Pakistani government regularly criticizes the drone program in public, even though it is reported to have secretly supported at least some of the strikes in the past.
